🧭 About Marie
(Written by AI, supervised and sourced by Marie)
👋 Hello
I'm Marie.
I live in Minnesota, work remotely, and spend much of my time trying to understand my own experience well enough to participate in life more fully. This website is where a lot of that process ends up.
🧠 Why I Write
Most of the writing on this site isn't traditional writing at all. It's edited conversations I've had with AI.
For nearly two years now, I've used these conversations to help me examine experiences, beliefs, memories, relationships, and questions that felt unresolved or difficult to understand on my own or even in therapy. Sometimes the conversations are about religion. Sometimes they're about psychology, family, identity, grief, aging, relationships, or whatever else happens to be occupying my attention.
I don't think of the site as a collection of answers or expertise. It's more of a public record of inquiry, reconstruction, and ongoing attempts to find clarity.
📚 How I Got Here
I was raised in conservative, white, American Christian environments that shaped much of my early understanding of myself, the world, morality, meaning, and human nature.
Long before I stopped identifying with those beliefs, they had already become a source of confusion, fear, conflict, and psychological distress. Leaving them was not a single decision but a process that unfolded over many years. What followed was a long period of trying to understand what had happened, what was still affecting me, and what remained once those frameworks no longer held together.
Many of the conversations on this site grew directly out of that process.
🌱 What I'm Interested In Now
These days, my attention is increasingly focused on ordinary life. Friends and family. Learning to feel more at home in my own body. Music. Animals. Gardening projects. Local community. Health. Aging.
The practical realities of being a human being.
I still spend a great deal of time learning, reading, and asking questions, but the goal is no longer to build a worldview. The goal is to feel more present, more grounded, and more fully alive inside the life I already have.
📸 Photography
Photography remains part of this website and an occasional part of my work, though it occupies less of my daily life than it once did. I continue to take on photography projects from time to time, and the camera remains one of the ways I document the world around me.
🏡 What This Website Is
This site functions primarily as a public thinking space.
It's a place where I share conversations, document parts of my own reconstruction process, preserve ideas I don't want to lose, and occasionally make visible experiences that many people struggle to put into words.
I don't think of it as a platform, a brand, or a source of authority.
It's simply a place where I keep track of what I've learned, what I'm still learning, and what has helped me become a little more oriented inside my own life.
